Don’t Be Bitter, Be Better

I was talking to a good brother, and he said to me, “Brother Cook, I’m real bitter! Everyone turned their back on me. My family has crossed me, yet they’re going to have the nerve to smile in my face.” I listened! And I said, “Brother, sometimes we think that people are supposed to do what we want them to do, and when they don’t do it, we feel violated. There aren’t any rules written on how folk ARE forced to treat us! So, your bitterness is in Vain!” We conversed some more and I went into a little bit about me! I’m sharing this because there are a whole lot of us that are holding bitterness deep down within and I’m saying to you-GIVE IT TO GOD AND LET IT GO! Let me be transparent: 97% of the things I write aren’t from anything I read, school, or heard, but it is solely from my crying to GOD, hurts, and pains. I can’t tell you how many times I have been stabbed in the back! 90% of my family members have stabbed me in the back on several occasions. In fact, I was just talking to one of them, who IS stabbing me in the back right now and they think I don’t know it, yet I still go to family functions, smile, etc. Friends and associates have crossed me, and I’m telling you straight up, from the core of my soul that I know what it’s like to be crossed. And there’s someone reading this post, that has been crossed, but you’re still bitter behind it. I still converse with them, because they didn’t cross me, they cross GOD, because when your heart is right, then whatever comes your way, GOD will deal with it. The result of them crossing me has made me into a powerful person. See, you never have to be bitter when you know what’s coming to you is Sweet (I just said something). We tend to think from an egotistical stand point saying, “How dare them!”, when we should be brushing our shoulders off and keep it moving. I used to ask GOD, “Why did so & so do that? We are supposed to be family! As much as I did for them?” It was the disciples that walk with Jesus, ate with Jesus, etc, but when he was on his way to the cross-THEY WEREN’T THERE (Mark 16:1-8). This is our life that we have to live. At the end of the day, you wonder where do I get all of these post from-I get it from bearing A CROSS that I wanted to put down so many times, but I can’t because I’ve come too far. We have to walk this yellow brick road with all of the witches, snakes, etc. I used to be that lion with no courage, the tin man with no heart, but now I have that plus. GOD has too much invested in you for you to become bitter over the thing that’s there to make you Great. You never have to worry about being bit by a snake when you know that you have the Vaccination in your veins…lol Let go of the Bitterness and enjoy the Sweet! Be Encouraged!~richard cook
