#TBT This is one of the greatest people to Ever impact my life. Mrs. Rita Hawkins was my professor at Baltimore City Community College. She believed in me so much that she had her class do a paper on me. She said, ” One day the world will know who Richard Cook is, because I believe in him!” She rushed from the doctors after being told she had cancer just to hear me speak. It’s a reality check as I type this and seeing this picture. I was 25. Her belief in me catapulted me to become someone I NEVER saw myself being. I became a part of the Student Government and would represent schools at the Higher Education in Annapolis. She would pour into like no other. She said, “Richard, I pray that one day you will see in you what I see in you!”See, GOD will send a messenger to ignite your fire, it’s up to you to keep it going. But Cook, I see a gold tooth in your mouth? Yeah I had it since I was 15 with a “R” in it. Ironically, a couple months later, the Bishop said,”Man, you NEVER smile; Andy (his friend standing next to him) we’re going to call him smiley because his smile is infectious! ” I went to the dentist a month later and got it chiseled out of my mouth for $40 because I wanted to be great. All it takes is for you to want it and now I can’t stop smiling. You have to do what’s necessary to get to what’s necessary. You think you know me, but you DON’T know the half. Always be nice to people because that person could be your angel. GODnight Family!
