A Pen From Richard Cook

Pen from Coach Cook: Christmas is near, and some will be filled with cheer and there are some who will be filled with thoughts of who they lost, what they don’t have, and “Christmas wasn’t supposed to be like this!”  I want to speak to those who feel the later.  I’ve been there.  I know what it’s like to be broke on Christmas, I know what’s its like to lose a love one, and I know what it’s like to not have a mate for Christmas.  I know!  Listen, between these extremes, there is prayer, there is GOD’S love, and there’s the notion of the day after the Holiday.  Your sadness is the result of your perspective which activates feelings of pain, anxiety, and loneliness. For me, I had to change my lenses, which changed my perspective, which changed my feelings.  Two years ago, I had nothing and was about to lose my mind.  I went and slept outside with the homeless to try and put my heart together.  It was shattered. No boo, no money, and the pain I had was beyond this world.  When I was out there, a homeless man named Tony (in a wheel chair) said to me, “Brother Cook, you have to keep pushing and moving.  There is a lot of hope in you, but you’re thinking about the wrong stuff looking at it the wrong way.  Change the way you think and move pass this MOMENT!  I’m in a wheelchair and dont know when my next meal will come.  I have to avoid people taking advantage of my Handicap.  You have to keep pushing ” He said more, but I don’t have enough time to type it.  My prayer for you is that GOD will help you change your lenses so you can move passed this MOMENT and I asked that you don’t allow the moment to become a Monument.  You’re like…who are you Cook? I’m just someone who cares, that’s all.  When you think about about the money, think about Christmas will BE better, when you think about a Boo, I will have someone who is capable and qualified to love me, when you think about the love one you lost….think about the good times and you were fortunate to have met such and amazing person.  GOD has something great for you.  Smile.  Love You! ♤ Coach Cook
