Debi Thomas won the Bronze medal in figure skating at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada. She was the first African-American to medal at the winter games. She went on to achieve greatness in other ways by graduating from prestigious Stanford University and getting a degree in engineering and becoming an orthopedic surgeon after graduating from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
Now, the legendary Olympic skater Debi Thomas is broke and living in a trailer in the Appalachian Mountains that was once infested with bed bugs. And to be honest, most of the people living in the United States are one check away from poverty, including some people in here. We don’t know what people are going through, how they got in that condition, but we do know that we can be kind to others.
Kindness cost NOTHING! May I suggest, that you begin to smile more, begin to speak to people that you don’t know, and walk stronger. Your smile, Your kindness, and Your powerful strong stance can save someone’s day, year and even someone’s life.
If you have a problem speaking to people, being nice to others, or walking powerfully, then the problem isn’t with others it is with you; and in order to solve the problem, you should step outside your comfort zone and just start smiling, being kind and walking strong ON PURPOSE AND IN PURPOSE.
You may ask, “Well Cook, suppose they’re not kind to me, speak back to me, or show disregard to me?” Let me share something with you; if I had a penny for every time someone hurt my feelings, I would be a billionaire.
My feelings get hurt all the time, but the more Dirt people throw/shade/rudeness, the more I shake off; because, I purposed in my heart to speak and be kind. See, when things are done in sincerity, whatever happens within it….doesn’t sway your focus. You can do it too. You can literally be someone’s life saver. Your awesome smile is infectious. NOW Smile. Be Inspired
